Brick is a commonly used building material. It is a unit made of burnt clay. It is mainly composed of clay, sand, lime and bearing soil or other concrete materials. Containing a good mixture of these elements the mixture is fired into the manufacturing process. Then a dry Brick is made up.

Importance of Brick Dimension

From the very beginning of the invention of bricks, the dimension of brick is very important. Because bricks are used in various construction and other ways. So that different fields need a different size of a brick. Different shape, different formation is also required. Different countries make brick in different ways for different uses. And now there are various types of brick is formed in the world.

Different Types of the Brick basis of Dimension

Depending on the various dimension (length x depth x height) there are various kinds of Brick.

  • Modular Brick: In modular brick, mortar thickness is added with the brick dimensions. The dimension of Modular brick in mm 194 x 92 x 57 (7 5⁄8 × 3 5⁄8 × 2 1⁄4 inches).
  • Modular Economo: Dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 92 x 92
  • Engineering Brick: In cases where specific strength, porosity, resistance to acid or gas is required, engineering brick provided a good solution. The dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 92 x 71 (7 5⁄8 × 3 5⁄8 × 2 3⁄4 inches)
  • Jumbo Modular: Dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 92 x 70
  • Jumbo Standard: Dimension of this brick in mm 203 x 92 x 70
  • Jumbo Standard (PLT 3): Dimension of this brick in mm 203 x 92 x 67
  • Slim Jumbo Modular: Dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 76 x 70
  • King: Dimension of this brick in mm 244 x 76 x 67
  • Queen: Dimension of this brick in mm 244 x 79 x 70
  • Closure: Dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 92 x 92
  • Norwegian: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 92 x 71
  • Roman: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 92 x 41
  • Norman: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 92 x 57
  • Slim Jumbo Norman: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 79 x 70
  • Utility: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 92 x 92
  • Double Utility: Dimension of this brick in mm 295 x 92 x 194
  • Monarch: Dimension of this brick in mm 397 x 92 x 92
  • Double Monarch: Dimension of this brick in mm 397 x 92 x 194
  • Thruwall 3 types: Dimension of these bricks in mm 397 x 143 x 92, 397 x 194 x 92, 407 x 194 x 194
  • Danish Hand Mould: Dimension of this brick in mm 194 x 92 x 57

Standard Brick Dimensions

Besides any other various dimension of bricks, the global construction agencies maintain a standard dimension of brick. Standard brick size for working purpose is 225 x 112.5 x 75 in mm dimension (length x depth x height). In addition, this includes 10 mm mortar joints, and then the actual dimension of brick is 215 x 102.5 x 65 in mm dimension.

Besides these different countries uses a different standard dimension of brick. Like

The United Kingdom Standard Brick Dimensions

The standard dimension of a modern brick is 215 × 102.5 × 65 in mm (length x depth x height) dimension.

The United States Standard Brick Dimensions

modern standard brick dimension 203 × 92 × 57 mm. The more commonly used is the modular brick, which dimension is 194 × 92 × 57 mm (length x depth x height).

Australia Standard Brick Dimensions

Boral company prescribed the standard brick size 230 x 110 x 76 mm (length x depth x height). Also, different size bricks are produced there.

Cyclonic Areas Standard Brick Dimensions

Cyclonic areas larger hollow bricks are used, which standard dimension is 290 x 140 x 90 mm (length x depth x height).

Bangladesh Standard Brick Dimension

In Bangladesh, standard brick dimension is 9 1⁄2 x 4 1⁄2 x 2 3⁄4 inch (length x depth x height).

India Standard Brick Dimensions

The standard brick dimension is 190 x 90 x 90 mm (length x depth x height) as prescribed by BIS. With mortar thickness, the dimension of the brick remains 200 x 100 x 100 mm.

Nepal Standard Brick Dimensions

The standard brick dimension is 240 x 115 x 57 mm (length x depth x height), which is prescribed by the National Building Code (NBC) of Nepal.

And other various countries also use the various dimension of bricks.
