In simple terms, efflorescence is not usually a severe structural problem. However, if ignored over time, it can lead to significant damage. The most immediate issue is aesthetic, as the white salt deposits affect the appearance of walls and surfaces.

More importantly, efflorescence indicates excessive moisture movement within the structure. If the source of moisture is not identified and controlled, it may lead to serious problems such as structural deterioration or mold formation.

Since efflorescence results from moisture migration, dissolved salts inside the structure may react with other building materials. Over time, this can gradually weaken masonry, concrete, or mortar and reduce durability.
