More importantly, efflorescence indicates excessive moisture movement within the structure. If the source of moisture is not identified and controlled, it may lead to serious problems such as structural deterioration or mold formation.
Since efflorescence results from moisture migration, dissolved salts inside the structure may react with other building materials. Over time, this can gradually weaken masonry, concrete, or mortar and reduce durability.
